How to Make Jello Shots for Parties

What’s that thing they say? Oh yeah, “There’s always room for Jello!” especially when it comes in the form of a shot! Jello shots can kick your party up a notch and make things a little more fun, and they are great for any occasion.

You can use color to make them even more festive. Make red and blue Jello shots for Memorial Day and 4th of July barbeques. Do red and green at Christmas. Or make a smattering of all colors for any party, any time!

The basic recipe for Jello shots is simply 1 cup of boiling water to each 3 ounce package of Jello. Mix it until gelatin is completely dissolved, and then add ½ cup cold water and ½ cup vodka. Then fill up those little jello party cups, and chill until they are firm. If you have plans to stay in and get crazy, you can alter this recipe by deleting the ½ cup cold water and just adding a whole cup of vodka. These are particularly nice when you use a good, tasty vodka like Grey Goose or Stolis. Jello shots are also awesome when you use rum instead of vodka. Try pineapple Jello with coconut rum. It’s a slice of heaven!

You can take it up a level and make your Jello shots even fancier. For instance, make a fuzzy navel with orange Jello, peach schnapps and orange juice. Like creamsicles? So do I! Just combine 1 package of orange Jello with a cup of boiling water and mix until the gelatin dissolves (as you usually do…yes, by this point you are a pro!). Mix in a cup of vanilla flavored vodka, and refrigerate for 4 hours. You can use your tiny party cups or pour this into an 8×8 pan, cut into squares and top each square with whipped cream. Want to spice things up with sex on the beach? It’s orange Jello, 1 cup of boiling cranberry juice, then ½ cup peach schnapps and ½ cup vodka. Yum!

Whatever you fancy, Jello shots can be as yummy as they are fun. Be creative with your favorite flavors. You can do almost anything with Jello shots!
